2. Incentive Program – An Incentive Program has been instituted. The idea is to get student-athletes to work together to get more work done in the weight room. Based upon their attendance and performance in the weight room, student-athletes will be rewarded with t-shirts throughout the offseason and helmet stickers in the fall.

3. The 2010 Kofa Kings Football Banquet is scheduled for Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Kofa High School Cafeteria. Student-Athletes are admitted free and need to pick up their ticket from Coach Moore prior to Dec. 6. The ticket contains information for family members to purchase their tickets. The last page of each handbook has a contract that needs to be read and signed by each player and a parent. Those contracts are due to Coach Moore before practice begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 5.

Here is a copy of the handbook.

Stanford Trip Days 3 & 4

Didn’t get an opportunity to write on Saturday because of our cell phone coverage issues at San Mateo County Memorial Park.
The day at Stanford was tremendous. We can’t say enough about how well the Kofa football program was treated upon arrival. From the coaching staff and support staff, to the parents of other teams competing, we were greeted warmly by everyone. Matt Doyle, who coordinated the tourney, even made special mention of the Kings during the morning coaches/officials meeting.
Despite finishing with a 1-4 record, the coaches are pleased with the way the kids improved throughout the tourney. The kids stepped up when challenged to improve their intensity. Lot of positives came out of the competition as we head back to workouts on Tuesday.
After the tournament we packed up and headed to Fishermans Wharf in San Francisco where we spent time checking out the sights and sounds of one of the most scenic cities in the United States.
We arrived back at our campsites, ask the kids about that drive when you get a chance, the kids were pretty much exhausted and all hit their tents for sleep.
Sunday we headed south again, and arrived at Morro Strand Beach Campgound around 3:30 p.m. To say it was windy, would be an understatement. Fortunately it is now dying down and the kids have been able to spend time on the beach.
Coach Klakulak has been doing a great job of preparing meals for the kids. Bean and cheese burritos with nachos for dinner and we will wake up on Monday morning to breakfast burritos. Good stuff…
We plan on departing for Yuma on Monday morning no later than 9 a.m.

Stanford Trip Day 2

We have arrived at San Mateo County Memorial Park where there is absolutely ZERO cell coverage. There are so many redwoods you can’t see the sky in most places.
The trip today from San Luis Obispo was extremely scenic, especially the last 50 or so miles along CA-1 which took us along the ocean.
Tournament starts tomorrow at 10:15 a.m.
As we leave the campgrounds and enter Palo Alto in the morning the boys will be give their parents and loved ones a call.
More on the way tomorrow…

Stanford Trip Day 1

The team left Kofa at 8 a.m. fully packed into 3 vans and a SUV… Stopped in Chico Hills at Jack-n-the-Box for lunch and to refuel around noon.
We arrived at Montana de Oro State Park outside of San Luis Obispo shortly after 5 p.m. where the temperature is 62 degrees.
The kids set up camp, we have 4 sites with a total of 7 tents, and are now down at the ocean, most screaming like little school girls as they test the waves.
Coach Klakulak is buying groceries right now, on the menu tonight? Gumbo
Kim Cabrales is keeping us updated on the score of Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
The plan is to wake up at 7:30 for breakfast, tear down camp and hopefully be on the road to Palo Alto at 10.
Check back Friday for a recap of Day 2.
